From her home in Kalimpong, Kumari Rao has built a thriving, sustainable brand crafting handcrafted bags and accessories. Starting with ₹10,000 a month, she now earns up to ₹50,000 and supports 25 women with per-piece work, giving them pride and independence.

With Srujna’s support through mentoring and orders, Kumari has scaled her business, gaining visibility through exhibitions and festive projects like Diwali laptop sleeves. She also contributes to Saafkins, promoting menstrual hygiene and ensuring her team stays engaged in meaningful work.

Kumari’s journey shows how opportunity and determination can empower women and build dignified livelihoods; her work is not just business it’s a movement for change.

A Journey from Limits to Limitless

In a remote village with scarce livelihood options, Vishakha Mourya found a turning point when she joined Srujna’s Saphkins Production. She began making bags from old clothes earning while promoting sustainability.

With support from the SuperDidi program, she overcame her shyness, mastered new stitching patterns, and even traveled to Jaipur for work an unimaginable step before. Her income rose from ₹1,500–3,000 to ₹10,000–12,000 per month, giving her financial stability and inspiring other women in her community.
